The Silent Reading Party is a monthly gathering of folks who enjoy reading. We do it alone usually, but once a month why not do it together? So civilized. So casual. None of the pressures of talking! Mixed with intermittent talking, when you can't resist!

And it can't be denied that watching someone read is sexy, seeing them unself-consciously concentrating on something else, wondering what they're thinking, imagining their brain folds forming. And yet there's also something sweet about the person who is reading a book in order to be seen reading that book, hoping someone will ask." (the Stranger) You never know what may happen at the Silent Reading Party, so you better come down and check it out.

The new and improved lounge area at what used to be the Red Lion, but is now the Radisson Colonial Inn, opens directly to the lobby and has lots of options for seating including comfortable couches and cushy chairs, along with a sweet modern fire place. It is the perfect place to read, see other people read, and be seen reading. They have a great selection of beer, wine, and a full bar if you're so inclined. The mood tends to be pretty mellow, so it should be perfect for enjoying some relaxing silent reading together.

Lets plan to arrive around 7:00 PM so that we all have time to get off work, eat, go to the gym, or do whatever we want, and then show up and enjoy a bit of reading. You don't have to show up right at 7:00, and you don't have to stay until 9:00, you can show up when you wish and leave when you need to.
