Solid Finances - Identity Theft Description:
In the course of a busy day, you may use your debit or credit card at the grocery store, charge tickets to a concert or ball game, rent a car, mail your tax returns, call home on your cell phone, or apply for a credit card. Chances are you don't give these every day transactions a second thought. But someone else may. The 1990's spawned a new variety of crooks called identity thieves. Their stock in trade: Your everyday transactions, which reveal bits of your personal information. Identity theft is a serious crime. People whose identities have been stolen can spend months or years - and their hard earned money-cleaning up the mess thieves have made of their good name and credit record. This presentation will teach you proven techniques and strategies to help you protect yourself from becoming a victim of identity theft and provide tips on what to do if you have become a victim of identity theft.
Solid Finances is a program out of Montana State University Extension that provides financial education. The Lewis and Clark County Extension Office will play a recording of this webinar on Thursday, February 11th, 2016 at the Lewis and Clark Library from 12:10-1pm.
