Do you or a loved one face a serious illness? Do you have questions about your role in companying with someone facing such an illness? The Catholic tradition has much to offer in grappling with the challenges raised by appropriate presence to persons faced with life-threatening illness.
In this presentation, Living Well While Dying: The Role of Community in End of Life Care, Sr. Jean will explore the wisdom of the Catholic tradition on what it means to accompany persons at end of life in light of our call to be a community of care and compassion. The event is in commemoration of the 70th school year anniversary of the Nursing Program at Carroll College.
Sr. Jean DeBlois, CSJ is a former nurse and Cardiac ICU Supervisor from Inglewood, CA. Sr. Jean received her doctorate on Moral Theology and medical ethics from the Catholic University of America. She is Professor Emerita at the Aquinas Institute in St. Louis, MO. Sr. Jean has published Health Care Ethics: A Catholic Theological Analysis. 5th Edition. Washington DC: Georgetown University Press, 2006 and numerous articles on Catholic health care and ethical/religious directives, reproductive technologies, euthanasia, religious identity and end of life issues.
