1000 Hands Buddha
11:00 AM
Dancing Lotus Center
Description:
1000 Hands Buddha Qigong - A 1000 Hands Buddha book will be available during the workshop for $15. The book is a highly recommended reference for those who wish to keep practicing the form.

1000 Hands Buddha is a short sitting meditation form with mudras (hand positions) and visualizations that are specifically designed for clearing a lifetime of emotional toxins from our hearts. "Heart" refers to our "heart of hearts"...that part of our heart that holds our emotions. A healing heart, in turn, becomes a catalyst for healing of mind, body, and spirit.

Many of us found that we fell in love this form immediately. That said...as we continue the practice, we discover that the more we practice, the more changes we begin to sense in ourselves. 1000 Hands Buddha is a poetic form, enriching us with its beauty while clearing out whatever no longer serves us, thereby making room for new energy and positive spirit to enter our lives. Many of us have found it particularly helpful to practice 1000 Hands Buddha when we are going through a difficult time in our lives. Personal meanings for the mudras may also arise with practice, meanings which may change over time, as we ourselves grow and change.

1000 Hands Buddha is a qigong form with Tibetan roots that comes down to us through many generations of the Liu Family. In fact, the mudras can be seen in ancient Tibetan paintings. The mudras function on multiple levels. Interestingly, each finger relates to a different part of our brain. By using and moving both hands at the same time, we are stimulating and balancing the two hemispheres of our brains. For more information on the Liu Family forms--and about Master Liu He and her brother, Dr Liu Dong--visit linggui.org.

Phyllis Lefohn, of MountainSpirit Qigong, has studied the movement of Qi for more than 30 years, in both China and the US, and has taught Qigong since 1994. Phyllis was introduced to a few qigong routines during a beginning Taiji workshop in 1992...and was so excited that she sought out more qigong. Unbeknownst to Phyllis, the first weekend qigong workshop in Portland evolved into a monthly commute that led to teacher certification from Professor Chen, Hui Xian at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine, extensive continuing studies with Professor Chen, and a lifelong love affair with Qigong. After Professor Chen retired, Phyllis began studying with Dr Liu Dong and Master Liu He, and was recognized as a Master Teacher by the Ling Gui International Healing Qigong School in 2009.
