In a spirit of discovery and play TLC hosts an exhibition of painting and ceramics with 3 accomplished artists. Julia Galloway creates pots of endearing charm and intimacy, full of joyous expression, her utilitarian pottery supports and represents our intimate rituals of nourishment and celebration. Robert Royhl seeks a way to paint "what it feels like to be in this world", landscapes of fragile beauty, ordinary reality and the ordinary places that can seem as mysterious and odd as photos from the other end of outer space. He utilizes different materials, egg tempera, Japanese mineral pigments, as well as more traditional oils. Doug Turman has been painting large scale works for an upcoming show in the Baucus Gallery at the Holter and wanted to produce smaller more intimate work for the show with Julia Galloway and Robert Royhl. They all enjoy a good laugh and share a keen sense of humor and playfulness that often shows through in their work.
This exhibition will open May 6 for First Friday until 8pm, and also during Spring Art Walk until 8:30pm. Please note that the Artists Talk will take place on Saturday May 14th at 5pm followed by and Opening Reception from 6 -8pm.
