Nepal is a beautiful country of striking contrasts, from the tropical savannas along the Indian border, to the stepped terraces planted with rice up and down the middle hills, to the icy alpine peaks of the high Himalayas. The two recent earthquakes in Nepal have resulted in at least 8,100 deaths, 18,000 injured people, and 544,000 damaged or destroyed homes. People living in very remote communities (several days' walk from the nearest road in the best conditions) urgently need shelter, food, and medical help.
On Wednesday May 27 at 6 PM at Covenant United Methodist Church, join Returned Nepal Peace Corps Volunteers Kathy Chase, Barb Burkland, and Marjean Heisler for an informal potluck to talk about the people and culture of Nepal and ways we can help in the aftermath of recent tragic earthquakes. Just bring a little food to share, we will eat from 6-6:30 and then talk about Nepal.
