Queen City Ballet Company Nutcracker 2014
Queen City Ballet Company will kick off Helena's holiday season with "The Nutcracker" Saturday Nov. 22nd @ 7:30 pm and Sunday Nov. 23rd at 2:00 pm at the Helena Civic Center.
Dancing toys, sparkling snowflakes, mischievous mice and waltzing flowers join Clara and her beloved Nutcracker in a journey with the mysterious Herr Drosselmeyer, Sugar Plum Fairy and her Cavalier. Based on the E.T.A. Hoffmann tale, this enchanting production will delight children of all ages. The performance, danced to Tchaikovsky's sumptuous score is choreographed by Artistic Director Campbell Midgley has become a Helena holiday tradition. Along with imaginative new flourishes, audiences can look forward to bedazzling costumes, a growing Christmas tree and Helena landmarks in the lavish Backdrops painted by former Cirque du Soleil dancer Eric Jeffers.
Guest Artists from Ballet West (the Ballet Company featured in the TV series Breaking Pointe) and Artistic Director of Montana Shakespeare Co, Kim DeLong join a cast of over 90 local dancers from the Queen City Ballet Conservatory. Queen City Ballet Company's talented dancers are nationally recognized and have gone on the dance in professional companies such as Boston Ballet, Alberta Ballet, Ballet Austin, Nevada Ballet and Richmond Ballet as well accepted for summer study at Julliard and the Russian Bolshoi and Kirov schools.
