The Board consists of one Helena and East Helena city commissioner, one county commissioner, or their representative, and seven other members appointed for a three-year term by the County Commissioners: the Superintendent of Schools District No. 1, a licensed M.D. and a licensed D.D.S., a consumer of health services, one member residing outside of Helena and one member residing within the city limits of Helena, and one person at large. The Board is responsible for hiring a health officer and setting policy for the administration of the City/County Health Department.
