13th: A Documentary Film Screening & Discussion Description:
In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Helena United Methodist Ministries invites you to a free screening of the documentary film, 13th, on Thursday, January 20th, at 7:00 pm at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, followed by a community discussion. "13th" is Ava DuVernay's extraordinary documentary tracing the ties between the 13th Amendment to the Constitution (which abolished slavery) and the horrors of mass incarceration today. The 90-min. film will be followed by a discussion moderated by Dr. Lisa Williams, of PureView Health Center. Montana Human Rights Network, YWCA and Rocky Mountain Development Council are also partners in this free event, to which all are welcome. We ask that participants come masked and practice social distancing.
