Description:
Yoga for Healthy Aging

Thursday, March 22, 12:10-12:50 PM, Small Meeting Room.

Bring your own lunch and discuss yoga for healthy aging. This is a drop-in discussion group (no physical yoga), and is free and open to everyone. No matter how old we are, we are all aging! And, none of us are immune to aging's effects. Once a month, the library will host local yoga teacher Anna Bradley, ERYT-200, and a discussion on yoga for healthy aging. Yoga provides us with tools and techniques to take care of ourselves; a well-rounded yoga practice maintains strength, balance, and flexibility in both the mind and

body. Throughout this series, we will learn some of the science behind how yoga helps our bodies age well and some tips for integrating yoga into our daily lives. Yoga for Strength

Maintaining our physical and mental strength allows us to maintain independence and withstand change throughout our lives. We know that we can lose muscle mass, and that rebuilding it can take two or three times as long when we are over 50 years of age. In this lecture, we will talk about how yoga can help us build muscle strength and how the words "strong" and "gentle" can be used to describe the same thing.
