The Art & Science of Arachnids Description:
A first of its kind, The Art & Science of Arachnids explores human-arachnid cultural connections through literature, art, folklore, paleontology, science, history, and – most importantly – LIVE ARACHNIDS!
See more than 100 live arachnids from around the world on display, including rare and seldom seen species such as the critically endangered “Pokie” tarantulas from India and Sri Lanka, rarely seen Dictator Scorpions, and beautifully colored Venezuelan Suntigers.
In addition to interesting facts on arachnid contributions to science, culture, and the arts, there are several hands-on activities including musical arachnids, a spider laboratory, and a predator-prey technology table.
Stunning images featuring the prettier side of these creatures are on display, as well as a 7-foot tall spider statue that can be used to make your very own web weavings.
The Art & Science of Arachnids will be on display through the end of August. A special thanks to our Lead Exhibit Sponsor, Valley Bank of Helena, for their generous support.
