Cybersecurity Training - DFARS 204.73 / NIST SP 800-171 Description:
Northrop Grumman, in collaboration with the USC Center for Economic Development and the Air Force Mentor-Protégé Program, is offering free cybersecurity training to small businesses nationwide. They are holding 40 workshops across the country, and this is the only workshop being held in Montana.

The primary purpose of the all-day workshop is to ensure that small businesses are aware of the cybersecurity requirements mandated under the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) and understand the risks associated with safeguarding controlled unclassified information.

The workshop will focus on the groups of controls from NIST SP 800-171, a publication issued by the National Institute of Standards and Technology, that offers guidelines on how to protect controlled unclassified information in nonfederal systems and organizations. The presenter will provide examples of what can happen when these controls are not implemented. By the end of the workshop, you will become familiar with all 110 controls and be able to better identify the areas where you may need greater focus to meet the Department of Defense’s cybersecurity expectations.

All of the workshops are being live-streamed online, so if you are unable to make it to the Bozeman workshop in person, or July 2 doesn’t work for you, there are other options. Go to https://sites.usc.edu/cyberworkshops/ for other dates.

Parking may be in short supply. Overflow parking is available in the Bobcat Stadium lot about a quarter-mile north on S. 7th Ave.
