Artist Gennie DeWeese (1921-2007) was an important figure in Montana’s Modernist movement. In this workshop, we’ll view the exhibition Life of Montana…As Ever: The Art of Bob and Gennie DeWeese and garner inspiration from Gennie’s well-known “scroll” paintings. Then, we’ll create our own personal scroll paintings (using canvas, felt, paint sticks, and dowels — just like Gennie!) that explore themes of place and identity.
