4:00 PM
Plymouth Church - UCC, Fireside Room
Trauma and Healing: Lessons from Literature Description:
This is a true story about Deo who arrives in the United States from Burundi in search of new life. He survived civil war and genocide in Burundi in 1993 and landed at JFK airport shortly after with two hundred dollars, no English language skills, and no contacts. "Strength in What Remains", written by Tracy Kidder, is his amazing story of trauma and recovery. This book discussion is led by Susan Butler, writer and editor. You are encouraged to order your own copy of the book, or check with the Lewis and Clark library or the church office for a used copy. The book discussion is free and open to the public. We will meet in the Fireside Room at Plymouth, 400 S. Oakes, beginning at 4:00 PM.
