Description:
Join us on October 24, 2018 at 5:30PM for the BZN Film Rodeo, a free evening of fabulous indie films & conversations, hosted by Bozeman's brand new BZN International Film Festival. After the film rodeo, head over to Blackfoot River Brewing to enjoy $1 off pints and continue the conversation.

As the fourth stop on BZN's grand film tour of the Northwest, the evening will consist of a screenings of four short films followed by a post-screening reception, where you'll be able to chat with some of the filmmakers. Screening begins at 5:30PM, opening with a series of short films, followed by BZN's Spirit-Award Winner, Mankiller, the story of Wilma Mankiller, the first female Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation.

This event is co-hosted by the Lewis & Clark Library. Any donations collected will benefit the L&C Library Foundation. For information on the other stops we’ll be making on the BZN Rodeo, and to learn more about the festival, click here: https://bozemanfilmcelebration.com/film-rodeo/

The evening will begin with a screening of the films from 5:30-7:30 at the library, and then the casual after-party at Blackfoot from 7:30 to close (8:45). The film schedule is as follows:

1. "Where the Wild Things Play" 4 mins. USA There’s a revolving conversation of asking why aren’t there more females in the adventure industry whether it’s big mountain skiing, filmmakers, big wall climbers and so forth. Well it’s about time we found out Where The Wild Things Play.
2. "Deux Mains" ("With My Own Two Hands") 2 mins. FRANCE Human life as told through the hands of one man, and the ones around him.
3. "Drawback" 8 mins. USA The story of a young bowhunter as she journeys out on her first hunting experience. Filmed just outside of Helena, MT!
4. "Mankiller" 73 mins. USA This is the story of an American hero. One who stands tall amongst the likes of Robert Kennedy, Harriet Tubman and Martin Luther King, Jr. Someone who humbly defied the odds and overcame insurmountable obstacles to fight injustice and gave a voice to the voiceless. And yet few people know her name. This is the story of an American legend, Wilma Mankiller, who overcame rampant sexism and personal challenges to emerge as the Cherokee Nation’s first woman Principal Chief in 1985.

BZN's MISSION: The BZN International Film Festival offers a platform for independent filmmaking and creative expression and supports emerging and established voices. BZN spotlights women filmmakers, writers, directors, actors and producers who understand that film is a powerful medium to convey their dreams and passions and who are ready to take the helm, pioneering projects to change current statistics and elevate women s visions and voices.
