Musikanten Montana All Souls Concert Description:
Musikanten Montana’s Artistic Director Kerry Krebill announces two events commemorating the Feasts of All Souls and All Saints on November 1 and 2. Musikanten Montana will offer a candlelight memorial concert for All Souls on Saturday November 1, at 7:30 pm, and featured guest artists contralto Anne Kania and baritone Bobb Robinson will present a duo recital on Sunday afternoon at 4. Both concerts are at St. Peter’s Episcopal Cathedral, 511 N. Park.
Saturday evening’s concert will feature Musikanten Montana with organist Wendy Yuen and Baroque recorders and viols in J.S. Bach’s Cantata 106 “Gottes Zeit ist die allerbeste Zeit” (God’s time is the best time). Memorial candles will be lighted and cantors will chant the names of those we have lost this year. Soloists in the Bach cantata are soprano Evanne Browne, contralto Anne Kania, tenor Dan Hutchings, and baritones Bobb Robinson and Art Bumgardner, with Curtis Foster and Alex Shaffer, Baroque recorders, and Anne Kania and Sarah Graf, tenor and bass viols. Wendy Yuen will open the concert with the Andante Sostenuto movement from Widor’s Organ Symphony No 9. Pianist Gerald Schafer will accompany featured soloists in works by Richard Strauss and Gerald Finzi, and the choir will sing a cappella selections from Brahms’ last songs (Opus 104). Suggested donation is $30 at the door. To add a name to the memorial list in the concert program, please text Kerry Krebill at 406-431-7462.
