Premiere Dance Company celebrates 26 years of The Nutcracker
Dec. 16th - 7:30pm
Dec. 17th. - 2pm
Helena’s Premiere Dance Company will bring the story of Clara and her Nutcracker Prince to life with its 26th annual production of The Nutcracker. Performances will be held at the Helena Civic Center December 16th at 7:30pm and December 17th at 2pm.
For 26 years, Premiere Dance Company (PDC) has made it possible for young aspiring dancers to experience being a part of this beloved classical ballet that has become a holiday tradition. A cast of 92 dancers will perform the choreography of Artistic Director, Charlene White, who has been directing PDC’s production all 26 years. Her talent as a choreographer and her artistic creativity has kept audience members returning year after year.
Amazing sets transform the Helena Civic Center stage into a beautifully decorated ballroom for the Stahlbaum’s annual Christmas party, complete with a growing Christmas tree. Clara and her Nutcracker Prince travel through the Land of Snow in an exquisite sleigh, meeting the Snow Queen and her dancing Snowflakes as a blanket of snow covers the stage. As they continue their journey to the Kingdom of Sweets, Clara and the Nutcracker Prince are treated to dances from Spanish Chocolates, Ribbon Candy, Bon Bons, Gingerbread and, of course, the Sugar Plum Fairy. Beautiful costumes compliment the talent of the dancers and add to the professional feel of this production.
From its humble beginnings with performances at the Myrna Loy Center, this production has grown in so many ways. One thing that has stayed a constant is the love the dancers have for this production and the joy they share with the audience. Come experience the magic of The Nutcracker!
