7:30 Historian Patty Dean, "Cass Gilbert and the Montana Club: Architecture both Unique and Handsome"

After The Montana Club burned to the ground in 1903, New York architect Cass Gilbert was hired to design the new building. Known as the "father of the skyscraper" for his design of the NYC Woolworth building, Gilbert was also the architect for the Minnesota and Arkansas state capitols, the US Supreme Court, and the Northern Pacific Depot and St. Peter's Hospital here in Helena. Join historian and curator Patty Dean for a fun and informative talk about the history of the historic Montana Club building and its famous architect. Copies of Dean's recent book "Cass Gilbert in Big Sky Country" will be available for purchase and the author available to sign.
